On September 21, 1999 Mercy posted that Amber and Jonathan Jackson had both been nominated for YoungStar Awards in the categories of Best Young Actor and Actress/Performance in a Daytime TV Program. Then on November 8th she posted, “Bonnie just called to tell me. Amber won!!! They will be sending me a copy of the program to scan and put on the site. Great news for AMBER.”
On December 14, 1999 Valarie posted to warn about someone impersonating Amber on the internet. “There has been someone appearing on Instant Messengers and the various message boards posing as Amber Tamblyn, speaking about relationships with Becky Herbst in a negative way, stating displeasure with her official fanclub and it’s administration – in short being very negative about life in general. This is NOT Amber.”
On July 24, 2000 unkewl inquired whether any posters had been to the GH Luncheon, and to share details. Jamier2206 replied, “Some things about Amber…she loves the yogurt and granola thing from McDonalds. Her and Becky get it every morning before going to the studio. Michael Saucedo teases her a lot. You can tell Amber and Becky are very close…they seem like best friends. Everyone praised Amber for her acting of late and Coltin said that he is amazed by her every day.”
Tidnee posted on August 3, 2000 that she read about Amber getting her license suspended by driving 95 in a 65. Amber responded to this post on August 12th, “okay, so I did get my license suspended (which I got back yesterday, hallelujah!) but I WASN’T going 95 in a 65 mile zone…I was only going 91!!!!!!!!!!!…lol…what?..mom was making meat balls I had to get home??? Actually I was coming back from a rave in SB and I got pulled over. He was a nice Cop…”
Amtamfan posted on September 18, 2000 that she stumbled upon GH while channel surfing and is now hooked. She says, “not only is she (Amber) beautiful, but she’s a great actress. I’m new to this site so I was wondering if Amber ever reads these posts?” Amber replied to this post on September 22, 2000 to announce that she is getting the internet and e-mail. She also said, “ My car got broken into at a rave in San Bernadino on Saturday, all my cds, clothes, and school stuff got stolen.” She had over 250 cds….
Amber posted on September 27, 2000 about a trip to the movies. “Last night I went to see the exorcist with Chad Brannon, and Coltin Scott, the remake is terrifying!!! Can you believe that Chad’s never seen it before? J…All three of us were huddled up in a little ball in the theatre screaming like tortured monkeys!!! (lovely image, don’t ya think?)”
On October 14, 2000 Tidnee posted that “GH got an Honorable Mention in Soap Opera Weekly’s article ‘Golden Moments for September’ for the acting talents of Amber Tamblyn (Emily).” She quotes the article which describes the scene at the cabin when Emily slices open her wrist, ‘Tamblyn’s cries and the expression on her face made us feel the shards of glass slicing into her wrist.’ The replies to this thread showed appreciation for the acknowledgment of Amber’s talent, and how she really deserves an Emmy nomination this year.
Tidnee reported on October 16, 2000 that “Amber went to Mexico on October 7 for her sister Chynna’s wedding – had a great time in Hualtuco, Oaxaca. She flew home on her own – the first time internationally, to her parent’s dismay to attend Nancy Grahn’s political rally. Congrats to her sister Chynna and her new hubby Elton on their marriage.”
On October 28, 2000 Tidnee posted about one of Amber’s past Halloween costumes. “Amber Tamblyn (Emily) told of a clever Halloween costume she once wore: ‘When I was 6, I was Amber the Barbarian, which pretty much describes my inner child in a nutshell. {I had} these dreadlocks that my mom created. I wore dark warrior make-up and I had these leather straps that went across my body and these cowboy boots. All my friends were ballerinas and princesses and I was Amber the Barbarian’ ”
Bree posted on November 3, 2000 that “The ATFC fanfic archive is in need of some new stories. Can you believe that we don’t have any stories on the hottest potential couple in ages – Zem?” Also on November 3, 2000 Tidnee posted that you can still purchase Amber’s poetry book, Of The Dawn, “go purchase it today!”
Also on November 3, 2000 Amber posted a cute message about internet acronyms. “Can anyone clue me in on what all these net- terms are like TPTB and TTYL? I get lol but….help?…”
On November 6, 2000 unkewl started a thread admiring Amber’s poetry. She replied to herself to bump it back up to the top saying, “I’m replying to myself so that I can get this back up toward the top cause I really want Amber to read this. My posts always seem to get passed up when she reads/posts things. I hope she replies, or I’ll kung foo her.” Amber replied, “I will destroy you and your empire, master unkewl…prepare for the fate you deserve for murdering my ancestors…er…ummm…” And in a subsequent post Amber said, “I got really excited when you mentioned kung foo. It’s the big joke between me and my boyfriend. Whenever I call and say, ‘ watcha doin’ baby?’ He’ll say, ‘practicing kung foo so I can take over the world’….We’re dorks!!!” And so began the kung foo mania on Amber’s Message Boards…
Amber started a political angst post regarding the election on November 9, 2000. “The election is making me nauseous. I can’t believe this is what it’s come to – I mean I thought it would be close but now…lawsuits, recounts, blame, anger, confusing ballots, MISSING ballots…I don’t know, it’s pretty shady. What do you guys think??” There were 23 responses to this thread and while many of the posters did not agree with each other about what was going on, it was a very respectful thread.
PetticoatJunction started a thread on November 10, 2000 about Zem fans over the age of 30. “Ok, let me tell you all that there are a ton of us that are over 30 that are absolutely LOVING this new Zem stuff. Amber looks so grown up, very FEMALE and oh my his Chadness is all man!” Tidnee replied, “ There are fans from all ages and walks of life that really are attracted to the Zem relationship. It is unique and you can’t help but be drawn into it.”
Amber started a lighthearted thread on November 13, 2000. “…So yesterday afternoon (Saturday) while sitting in my room waiting for 9pm to roll around, I decide to do something drastic. Again. So I went to my hair stylist and yes, completely changed the color. It’s now like a dark brownish red – pretty intense.” There were many replies raving about her hair color, and EmilyQFan, replied, “I always said you had the best highlights/streaks in daytime.”

On December 5, 2000 Destinyin2k asked what all the posters plans for the holidays were, and if they wanted to share any holiday traditions. Mercy talked about getting her potpourri simmering on the stove. “Peeling of oranges, lemons, an apple slice or two, whole cloves, allspice, cinnamon sticks, water and simmer. Someone might think I had been baking again, smells so winter warm.”
Destinyin2k posted a self described weird question on December 5, 2000 that she thought might spark some debate. She was working on a fanfic with the following premise. “A few weeks ago someone suggested a plot where Lucky and Nikolas accidentally resurrected the Cassadine weather machine. Their escapades make the people of PC pair up romantically with interesting/unlikely or bizarre partners for a date. I decided to write this story and am having fun with it. So what do you think? Who could you see Emily with from GH or PC?” There were many creative replies, ranging from Big Momma who thought that a match up of Emily and Reggie would “frost all the Q’s!” to Amber who said, “IT’S ALL ABOUT EMILY AND CARLY!!” It was a fun post….
EmilyQFan posed a question on December 5, 2000. “So is Chad getting teased about the hanging, dimpled, and pregnant Chads!!! It must be BRUTAL” She is referring to the election recount in Florida, where the pieces punched out of ballets are called ‘chads’. Amber responded on December 6, 2000. “ALL THE TIME!!! Bill Ludel, one of our directors always calls him pregnant Chad. Then he says, ‘as long as I’m not dangling’ he, he, he…”
Also on December 5, 2000 Tidnee started a post, “Do you think you will feel sorry for Juan come tomorrow, or is this deserved?” She is referring to the previews of a scene where Juan confronts Emily in front of Zander and forces her to make a choice between the two of them. The overwhelming responses were that this is exactly what Juan deserves. Zanmanfan thinks, “the things that Juan has done to Emily is abuse…emotional”, and Petticoat Junction summed it up by saying, “We need to get rid of him so our Prince Charming and lovely Princess can begin their love story and embark on a full life of love and pleasure.”
After that scene aired, Amber posted on December 7, 2000 asking for a fan response. “I have heard a lot of grief about today’s scenes. What do you guys think? Was Emily wrong, or right?” There were 29 replies to Amber’s question and all but two felt that Emily did the RIGHT thing. Airpoet commented, “I think that Emily did the right thing, because she was being honest with herself, even though she’s not at the point yet where she can totally admit how strong her feelings are for Zander.”
On the same day, Mercy added a continuation of Amber’s post because the original was getting too long, and twelve more posters replied. All were in agreement that Emily made the right decision J
Destinyin2k posted a cute question on December 8, 2000. “What could GH give you for Christmas that would make your holiday even brighter?” There were many cute responses…Zander7ever said, “Well, I’d like to see Em’s Christmas scene for Zander played out – skating together on the pond, a picnic lunch.” All April4442 wants for her GH Christmas is “that Zander and Emily’s love will flourish for a very long time and for them to live happily ever after.”
On December 9, 2000 Amber asked another question, about Emmy submissions. “They have to be turned in pretty soon. Suggestions, please?” There were 31 responses, and most agreed it would be a tough decision since Amber had done so much ‘Emmy worthy’ work in the past year. However, the common choices were the Dead Ted wake up scene, and the bathtub scene. JKR9973 says, “Ok….I would definitely pick the Dead Ted wake up scene. You blew me away with that one. In the bathtub…you didn’t speak but your eyes did (only true actors can act without words…you can girl)”
Natalia7 asked on December 10, 2000, “I was just wondering if Mercy is a friend of Ambers? No biggie, I’m just curious. Mercy seems to know everything.” Tidnee replied, “Yes she does (know Amber personally). She is the fan club president.”
Tidnee posted on December 11, 2000 that a new poem was up on Forever Amber titled “Pretty Little Girl in Red”. Amber replied, “Wow, that one is really old…” and Mercy explained that they were just going through the ones that Amber had sent them to post one at a time.
Unkewl posted two of her poems on December 11, 2000 wondering what Amber thought of them. Many posters replied acknowledging her obvious talent. Amber replied, “Ok, unkewl, you have inspired me…all this talk of poetry, here’s two new one’s from me…hope you like!” The poems were titled “she howls” and “said it all” . All posters were impressed. Grissel commented, “Your poetry definitely speaks of an ‘old soul’. Beautiful work.”
Another post started by Tidnee on December 11, 2000 was “If you could be GH head writer what would you change, or what would you have happen?” There were 22 responses with some very exciting possibilities. Many of the posters wanted to bring Vanessa Marcil back as Brenda. MusicGrlJ said, “I wouldn’t touch a thing on the Zander/Em storyline J I just hope that the writers continue with Zander owning up to his mistakes, and keep it realistic.”
Tidnee asked Amber in a post on December 13, 2000 about getting a tattoo. “When you mentioned that Wendy was leaving you stated you always thought she’d be the one to scold you for getting your first tattoo. Do you really want one?” Several posters replied tell their “tattoo stories”. Amber jumped right into the conversation. “Actually, I do want to get a tattoo…probably something my mother designed. I also want to get my two sister’s initials on my acillees heel (er, however you spell it)>>B.W. and C.T.”

The American
presidential election generated some interested discussions and some very
opposing views. Most posters kept
things respectful and on Dec. 19th Amber posted to commend her fans
on how civil things had remained.

A holiday questionnaire revealed that
everyone celebrated Christmas and some also celebrated other holidays such as
Hanukkah, Yule and a few others.
Weirdest gifts ranged from a Sabrina the Teenage Witch game to a
custom-designed Barbie doll to braided cloth hangers. Most were believers in Santa Claus, though a few had lost their
faith in the jolly old man in a red suit.
Stone’s early Christmas was by far the favourite GH Christmas, though
people had a hard time choosing.
Favourite songs included the traditional ones like “I’ll be Home for
Christmas” and “Silent Night”, as well
as some of the newer ones – songs by the Carpenters and Mariah Carey. New Year’s Eve plans varied between parties
and quiet evenings at home spent with family and friends.
On December the Canadian posters
stepped out and identified themselves.
They spanned the entire country from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland.
Posters come from Toronto, Victoria, Montreal, Calgary, and some of the smaller
towns.

After meeting the new EP of GH, Amber had this to say about Jill Farren Phelps: “Met the new EP today..... Well ladies and gentlemen, I know you all have been dieing to hear. Yes today we did have a big lucheon in order to meet and greet the new EP, Jill. I give her ....... almosst two thumbs up and only because I'm still attached to Wendy as if she were my mother. But I thought Jill handled herself very well. She was nervious, but very honest and direct. She doesn't intend on making big scheduling changes (which is what most of us were afraid of), and she won't be firing anyone soon, so ignore those soapzone posts!!!! love all of you, Amber Rose”. Posters were relived to hear from Amber, as many had been wondering what was in store for GH and what the new EP might do. Posters were also worried about the future of their beloved characters and cited JFP’s past record on others soaps, most of which was not very pleasant. Some fans were hard-put to trust Jill after having seen her work on other soaps, while a few posters were pleased she was on board. Others were reserving judgement until having a chance to view her work.

On December 21, 2000 April4442 posted a thank-you to Amber. “Amber…Thank you so much for the autographed picture I received yesterday. I’m putting it along with CB’s pic that he sent me in my web page I am currently building. I appreciate the thought and may you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year!” Mercy commented that “Autograph photo request going to GH studio via snail mail do receive answers J”
EmilyQFan noticed something interesting in the credits after the show on December 22, 2000. “Production Coordinator: Zander Smith I thought that was pretty funny.” Amber replied, “You guys didn’t know???”
On December 23, 2000 EmilyQFan noted that only four new registered users were need to reach 200. “So go out there and recruit…maybe we can get 200 by New Years!!!!!” She posted again on December 26, 2000 announcing that the registered user count was at 201!
Neilspeedyboy asked the posters a question on December 27, 2000. “What university do u want to go to, if u’r already in one, whats it like??? I hope to go to UCLA, and major in performing arts.” Many of the replies came from teens that are aspiring actresses, and wanted to go to UCLA as well. Lauree posted a message offering to help in the planning process. “I spent 15 years as an assistant director of admissions and academic advisor at 3 universities and know quite a bit about financial aid, admissions, deadlines, etc…”
On December 27, 2000 neilspeedboy started a thread asking, “How did u start watching General Hospital?” The majority of replies said that they started watching at very young ages (3 or 4) with their Moms, and have been hooked ever since! IWnaBOnGnrlHsptl replied, “My Mom watched GH when she was pregnant with me, so naturally I’ve been watching GH all my life.”
On December 28, 2000 Cynthia started a post about Amber’s hair. “I just finished watching the previews for tomorrow and Amber’s hair looked closer to the original color. Maybe it was just quick and I could not tell?? Or did Amber change her hair back to the original color. Just curious.” There were many interesting replies, some from professional stylists and some from posters that have dabbled in dying their own hair at home. The general consensus was that it was fading back to its original color.
Tidnee started a post on December 28, 2000 about Michael’s (Saucedo) new look. “Juan was looking good!” She was referring to a scene where Michael was sporting a goatee. Many replies said that even though it looked good, it didn’t make much sense for a teen to have that much facial hair.

On December 27, 2000 Amber started a silly post about “Dude, where’s my car?” and she responded to her post six times in about five minutes. Everyone jumped on the silly bandwagon. A fun post was had by all that totaled 22 replies.
On December 28, 2000 Tidnee asked, “Was Alan wrong for the things he said to Emily? I mean you have to understand where he was coming from, but I am a HUGE Zem fan and I have their side. I loved the fact that Emily stood her ground and would not leave – gotta love her backbone. But was Alan wrong for putting his foot down and reacting the way he did?” (She is referring to the scene at the hospital after the shoot out) Most of the replies felt that even though he may have handled it poorly, he really did have the best of intentions. Mercy commented, “Alan is a parent loving a child and he has been pushed to the point of drawing a line in the sand. Been there, done that, know the feelings too well. This is not an easy story for me to watch.” Big Momma thought, “the scene was TERRIFIC! Amber and Stuart played it perfectly! Alan stayed true to his character…as was previously mentioned in this thread.”
Tidnee started another post on December 28, 2000 asking “Juan and Zander-who was right?” referring to the hospital scenes after the shooting when Juan shows his frustrations. Most posters felt that Juan is right for being concerned about Emily, but they also understand that Zander only wants the best for her to. As far as Emily’s reactions, Mercy offered her opinion. “They are writing Emily so TRUE to life of her age. 16 going on 30 one minute and 16 going on 12 the next. Consistency is not what being a young woman or teenager is all about. J It is a learning age still, borderline adult. Loveable and frustrating for parents.”
Tidnee asked on December 30, 2000, “Most interesting couple in the making on GH now…Zem, Nik and Gia, Stefan and Chloe, or Laura and Scotty?” All replies were either for Zem or Nia (Nik and Gia). Both fan bases were pretty passionate about their favorite couple.
Amber posted on December 30, 2000. “SOD awards…a no go next year…So I have heard…That because other shows are pissed because GH wins everything every year, the awards are not happening. It’s a rumor around the set, but I think it’s true…” There were many replies, and everyone was disappointed. Gymnast76 observed, “If that rumor is true, it’s sour grapes on the part of the other shows. The fans are the ones who vote in the SOD awards. If GH wins a lot, it’s because they have a lot of vocal, loyal fans. Nothing wrong with that.”

Coyotediva posed a question on December 31, 2000. “Zander or Juan? Which will win Emily’s heart? I personally think she will get back 2gether with Juan, but she will stick with Zander 4 a while. What do you think?” A few posters replied hoping that Juan and Emily would reunite, but most felt that Zander and Emily would be the couple that would survive. Everyone had positive thoughts about Michael however, and hoped to see him in another storyline. MusicGrlJ said, “I want to see scenes with Michael and Maurice!!!”
On New Year’s Day 2001 Tidnee started a post about 2000 storylines. “Okay, bottom line – what was the very WORST storyline in 2000 and what was the BEST?” The most common answers for the worst storyline were Jax leaving without saying goodbye, and the pairing of Luke and Felicia. The best storyline for 2000 according to most posters was the rave storyline, and the Zem storyline in general.

Neilspeedyboy started a post on December 31, 2000 asking “What show so u watch other than GH?” There were 23 replies with many different answers. Some watch other ABC soaps, some watch soaps on other networks, and several primetime shows such as Friends, Once and Again, Felicity, and Dawson’s Creek were mentioned.
Tidnee posted that Amber’s storyline was mentioned in this month’s Cyber Soap Awards at the ABC site. Mercy encouraged everyone to go and vote.
Amber posted on January 3, 2001, “I just want to thank everyone soooooooooo much for the amazingly beautiful Christmas ornaments that I received over the holidays. It was so thoughtful of all of you!!”
Also on January 3, Amber asked, “What do you guys think of a ‘breakfast with Amber’ type of thing in July? Yes, No????” There were 23 replies, and everyone thought it would be a wonderful idea.

LIBERTY Paint The Wind Witch posted, “I’ve been online for two days (for the first time in FOREVER) and already, I’ve been flogged by a multitude of fans who are so devoted to Amber that they’ve actually decided to pose as her online.” Mercy also responded to clarify. “Amber does not IM people. Amber does not go into Chat Rooms and draw people out for private chats and send e-mail to those she has never met. Nor does Amber draw in phony ABC executives or other phony actors to ‘prove’ she is Amber.”
On January 9, 2001 MusicGrlJ started a post praising Amber for her performance that day (the scene where Emily gets shipped off to boarding school). Sony commented, “She was AMAZING today. Talent doesn’t even begin to describe it. I really don’t agree with Em’s point of view on this whole Zander thing but today when she was standing in that living room I was totally rooting for her. I can’t wait for her performance tomorrow.”

On January 8, 2001 Amber posted. “So I know I haven’t posted in a while so here’s the inside scoop. Chad was eaten by a swarm of wild three-toed Brazillian Monster Monkeys…on crack. I tried to stop them but they swallowed my leg whole like an egg-roll!!! He is recovering. I still only have one leg. Damn monkeys…
Anyway, we had an actors meeting with Jilly Jill today and I was very pleased. I have to say that I think she has a lot of wonderful ideas in store, and plans to make GH (once again) on top. She’s a lot like Wendy was…direct, honest, to the point, and has a wonderful sense of humor. EVERYONE is very excited about what will be coming up in the next year. Expect the transformation to take place around, oh, say, March. I MISS YOU GUYS!!!! AND YOU BETTER ALL COME TO MY BREAKFAST OR I WILL UNLEASH THE BRAZILLIAN MONSTER MONKEYS ON ALL OF YOU!!! Or I will just have Unkewl display her kung-foo master skillz J” There were 15 replies to this post, and everyone WANTED to come to the breakfast. There were some grumblings from the east coast posters wishing Amber could do something closer to them….
Amber started a post on January 8, 2001 titled, “stop rhyming I mean it” and then posted right after with this message, “….does anybody have a peanut?…” Kelita13 posted a reply quoting a line, saying it was her “all time favoritest movie” (Princess Bride). There were a string of replies from Princess Bride fans, and many more quotes.
Amber posted on January 9, 2001 to set the record straight, AGAIN. “Okay, from now on I want everyone to understand this. If someone is saying they are me, they are not UNLESS I have openly confirmed it on this board. This will save you guys the trouble of listening to pointless dribble coming from star struck lips across the net…”
Shellfish started a post on January 10, 2001 to help name her cat. Most replies posted the names of their present or past kitties, and many warm memories were shared. Lois commented, “Cats never cease to fascinate me with their grace, wit, intelligence, independence, and unconditional love.”

I read somewhere that he drives a truck. What a turn on! Amber, has Chad given you a ride in his truck? ;-) If I were you…I would go for him. He’s a real BABE!” There were 29 replies to this thread, and Amber commented as well. “Yes, I have taken a ride in Chad’s truck. It’s a big white chevy that looks like it likes to go off roading. “Unkewl” kicked off a conversation with fellow Ani DiFranco fans, and asked
Amber what her favorite songs of hers were. Amber had quite a few to add to the
list, and said, “favorite Ani songs- um, pretty much everything on
"dialate", um, also don't remember the name but number 9 on "not
a pretty girl" album...... God, that's by far my favorite! Also,
"John Wayne" off of "the album "imperfectly"
and....... can't forget- "falling is like this" and "you had
time" on her album "out of range".............. what a
goddess.....”
On January 14th, “gemgirl65” decided to come
out of her lurkdome and start a “Shallow Poll” regarding Emily’s wide headband
that she’d been wearing on General Hosptial, to which the overall consensus
was, “get rid of the headband!” “Misty89” wrote, “IMO, Emily needs to leave the
headband behind along with the St. Cat's uniform!”
There was
much discussion, as usual, on General Hospital and the current storylines, with
the posters commenting on the relationships between Zander and Alexis, Zander
and Elizabeth, Zander perhaps singing at this year’s Nurse’s Ball….are we
sensing a pattern here?
Given the copious amount of discussion the posters on Amber’s board had dedicated to Emily’s other half of ZEm, one can only imagine how excited all the ladies were when Zander’s portrayer, Chad Brannon himself, surfaced one evening and posted a message on Amber’s forum. “HOWDY LADIES! Just thought I would drop in and say hello. I'm new to this computer thing...so bear with me.” Chad’s post was met with great enthusiasm, if not a little hyperventilating and fainting at the keyboards, and Chad responded with, “i hope to be around more...maybe and i can get on here and mess with Amber!” He answered some questions, and let everybody know about his upcoming project on the stage, playing Christian in Cyrano de Bergerac. He told his female fans that, “i would also like to say that tights are not fun when doing classics...i don't know how you women do it!” Of course, as someone was infringing on her turf, Amber could not keep quiet, and responded with, “OH GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT"S CHAD BRANNON>>>>>> TOUCH ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for posting babe- he must have been high on all those pixie stix you guys sent us!” As Chad’s reply count rose into the nineties, Amber could started to get irate… well, not really, but she had choice words for her fawning fans. ;) “NO ONE CARE’S ABOUT CHAD’S HAIR!!!!! .......hey, pay attention to me, dammit!!!” Grissel (the original one, please accept no imitations!) reassured Amber that we are still her fans, and came to the conclusion that the ‘honeymoon was over’ for the co-stars. “I can hear her now...pacing in her dressing room..." Oh, it's always CHAD, CHAD, CHAD! No one likes ME anymore.....They all just want to know about that loser, CHAD! (insert whiney crying).. I'll make them pay....I'll make THEM ALL PAY!!!!!!!!(insert diabolical, hysterical laughter here...).......Well.....it could happen?” Grissel’s prediction had Amber a little nervous, as she hastily tried to conver her tracks, by replying to Grissel, “(insert nervous laugh here)..... who told you? It was those damn "Port Charles" haters wasn't it???.....I'm not jealous that you all love chad more than me..... I'm not ..... I swear (insert amber weeping pathetically in a corner here)....” Grissel also had a suggestion: “’DangerMan’ needs to get his hinder in gear and find someone to handle his website...that way poor Amber can have hers all to herself again...and bask in our love and adoration without having to share it with that upstart, Chad ...the nerve of him...being so darned attractive and talented...distracting us from our worship of that Number-One Kung-Fu Daytime Ninja Amber...” At this point Chad became aware of this new thread that had started, and immediately addressed the most important issue that had been brought up, “What's the deal...no one likes my hair?!” While the Chad Brannon Harem directed him to the lengthy posts that had occurred a few days earlier regarding his hair, the AmTammer’s kept posting, discussing everything from shampoo to conditioner, and reassuring Amber that they still loved her just as much as always. This seemed to placate the Kung Fu master, as the board quieted down for the night, and a new archive had to be created to hold this memorable chat.

In the midst of all the election stuff, Lori gave us a very disturbing fact about the presidents that served a term in the year that ended with a 0. All of these presidents were cursed, bad things happened to all of them, assassinations and so on.
Jan 15, everyone was very curious to know how they got Chad to post. Anyone know that Chad was on Days? Lois did, informing us that he was in fact on the show for 2 days last August. Tiff let everyone know that you need to write Chad and Amber at the studios to request an autograph or photo.

Central 21 began around January 20th, 2001, and was actually a
pretty slow couple of days for the AmTamers. The issue was raised that there
was yet another Amber imposter out and about, this time posting on another
message board. Val had words of wisdom for everyone, tell them to ignore posts
like that, and report them! The group rallied around fellow poster Kristin
(KMCangel00) as she shared her roommate woes and asked if Amber was still
looking for one, because she was more than happy to get away from her current
one!
There was a
discussion surrounding the GH Fan Club Weekend that occurs in July, as the
posters talked about finalizing plans, and looking forward to finally meeting
each other. Deserie posted, “I soo cant wait to meet all of you dorks...my fellow
dorkz that is! and please dont make fun of the way i look, and no one better
say i look 14, ill be 18 ok..!!”
There was a
lot of off-topic posting going on, such as discussing good movies everyone had
seen lately, (Save The Last Dance got two thumbs up!) and more talk about
politics, although this time in the form of a picture of “Curious George”….W.
Bush, that is!
A long
thread was started by Dana (Zander4ever) as she took a brave step and admitted
to everyone that she was a “Pixie Stixaholic.” “Okay - I think it's official.
I'm addicted to Pixie Stix and it's all Amber's fault. I tried them after the
whole Pixie Stix thing came out on GH and got addicted.” Surprisingly, she
wasn’t the only one, and soon everyone was sharing the best places to buy them
in bulk, and praising the wonderful candy haven that is Wal-Mart.
On one
Friday night, it seemed that everyone was bored and at home, so a long thread
was started as all the posters just got together and chatted, talking about
everything from other message boards they frequent, time zones, sleeping
schedules, and musical tastes!
Another
post was started where the AmTammer’s speculated on how Zander and Carly from
General Hospital could possibly be connected. After MUCH discussion and
deliberation, it was pretty much agreed upon that Zander could possibly be
Carly’s dead best friend’s brother….got that?
On January
21st, people started to notice Amber hadn’t posted in awhile and
wondered where she had gotten to. Bonnie Tamblyn, the resident “Big Momma”
replied, saying, “Amber has got the flu-bug and is in bed with a high fever.
Luckily she is not on the set until Friday. Unfortunately, she has finals this
week, how convenient! She'll be back to post when she is feeling better and has
more time. Thanks for your support and we feel the love!” The fans immediately
sent Amber a lot of well-wishes, hoping to see her posting again soon.
They didn’t
have to wait too long, Amber was back the next day….well sort of. “too much
kung-foo, not enough sleep... *sneeze* so sick....... fever......
aching bones....... dilussional (but that's everyday)........ miss you
guys........be back sometime soon...... hopefully..............” Happy to see that their Amber-son was still
alive, they wished her all the best in getting well again!

was back again two days later, still sick, when ‘unkewl’ asked about a picture
they found on eBay of Amber at an event. She responded, “This is a really
recent photo.... I mean as in last weekend. I went with Jacob, Marissa, Coltin,
Chad, and Sarah Brown to the E! entertainment party celebrating young hollywood
actors. Everyone loved the dress, needless to say (usually I hate wearing
skimpy clothing like that). Anyway the dress was made by my friend Lara
Metzger, who has actually made many of my outfits. She's amazing..... you'll
probably see her out there soon with the big boys like DKNY, Versace, ect. Anyway......
still really really sick, I've actually never been this sick in my life. No
good. I miss my boyfriend. I miss my friends. I miss you guys. I miss my kung
foo partners (at least unkewl-Son is keeping everyone up to date....).”
And ‘unkewl’ was keeping all the “Kung Foo” partners in shape, by posting the list of all the members up to date, and letting everyone know she was on top of things!
On January
25th, the ZEmmers where ecstatic over a great episode with Emily and
Zander, and couldn’t wait to rave about it with their fellow posters. ‘Tidnee’
had nothing but good things to say: “ya know it was a excellent show
all the way around, there was not anything bad in the whole show!! it
was excellent!”
No one
could wait to see what was in store for their favorite couple over the next few
weeks!

Unkewl posted about the kung foo club on January 21, 2001. “OK well first off I wanna say thank you tons to the ones that have asked and posted about it. Love you tons. I am pretty sure there will be more but I’m gonna list off all the people I have written down so far just to make sure I have everyone so far. I am using screen names to make it easier.” She also included a list of all the screen names. An additional 44 posters responded saying that they wanted to be part of the kung foo club.
On January 24, 2001 Tidnee asked, “Anyone know what gives with Steve’s return? Tell me!! I’m dying to know can’t find any spoilers.” LlAngel replied, “I heard he comes back on Monday the 29th and that he was going to have a big role in the Liz/Lucky story. I guess we’ll all see soon. Personally I don’t care what he’s doing as long as we get to look at him – hehe.”
Tidnee posted on January 25, 2001. “What a great show today! I loved Zem, didn’t you guys!” (She is referring to the kissing scene in the studio.) JJBK agreed, “I was one of the people who said it was way too soon for anything like this, but after today’s scenes, I’ve changed my mind. I wanted them to…um…continue.”
Candyrainn started another post about the same scenes. “I didn’t want them to stop!! Hahaha…but it was good that they made Zander do the responsible thing. LOL…ya right who cares about responsibility…I want more kissing.”
On January 25, 2001 Sunshine posted that Amber was named Outstanding Performer in SOW for the week of January 8. This was the week that Emily admitted her feelings for Zander, and the Quartermaine’s shipped her off to boarding school. There were many congratulatory replies for Amber.
Unkewl posted an original poem and asked for opinions on January 26, 2001. The replies were all positive…awesome poem!
Iluvpixistix posted a question on January 26, 2001 asking, “Just out of curiosity, who do you all think should be the new face of Deception???” (Elizabeth or Gia) There were many differing opinions on this post with good reasons behind their feelings, yet many posters thought that they BOTH should be the face of Deception. MusicGrlJ replied, “I think that they should do BOTH girls…kind of like a ‘devil/angel’ thing, since Gia has the exotic look and Liz has the wholesome look. But, I would still prefer Emily do it above everyone else LOL.”
Zander7ever posted a question on January 27, 2001 about who drugged Emily the night she “ended up with Dead-Ted. Everyone keeps talking about how Zander drugged Emily, but I don’t remember that. Wasn’t Dead-Ted the one who drugged her?” Kelita13 answered the question. “She was drinking from all sorts of open containers. It could have been anyone. Many are making the assumption that since we know Zander was dealing at the rave, he’s at least indirectly involved.”
Big Momma asked a question on January 27, 2001. “I was looking for the ‘snappies’? on the Thursday scene with ZEM, cause I wanted to print them out for Amber’s scrap book. There were 3 pages, but now I can’t find where they are, and which one of you fabulous posters generated them. Forum #22 was not yet locked up. Winter wearies indeed! We also wondered if Chad was OK, or whether he had also caught a bug.

Around this time, it was communicated that Crash (Nina) announced through her spoiler e-mail that Chad was on contract - which we later found out was not the case at that time. As we found out, this would not come to for several more months.
On 2/11 your mom Bonnie relayed the news that your GH snail mail had apparently been misdirected to Tony Geary's mailbox, and that you had just then received your Christmas mail! - and that was the reason no one received a response from you lately - to be addressed by you as soon as humanly possible. We understood completely.
2/13: Family picture time - as Deserie posted a few pics of cutie cousin Ray. In response a few ventured forth and posted their gorgeous images or the rest of us to feel insecure over - LOL!! You have some great looking fans.
Amber, purple and jewel tones become you!! We loved scrutinizing your GH wardrobe and often wondered who made most of the selections - You? GH? Both?
Valentine's Day! - and someone in a gorilla suit was romping around in the Port Charles police station - still wondering who it was! You didn't know at the time - did you ever find out? What a beautiful V-Day montage GH presented to the song "This Could Be Heaven" by Seal. Best Valentine's Day wishes were also sent from everyone on the board to you, Bonnie and Russ.An ugly rumor cropped up that the Zem relationship was going to become abusive. 46 replies to that query! How glad we are that this particular rumor proved to be completely unfounded!

2/16: More rumors - will Lila Quartermaine die? (As of this writing at the beginning of July she is still going strong!) It is also rumored that Tava Smiley was let go - she is also still on the GH canvas as of this writing (but as we now know, she will indeed exit soon).

On February 20th, 2001, a desperate plea went out to Bill Gates from Grissel (Kristie) when she ran into computer problems after her husband decided to wipe the hard drive and install some new programs. Things just did not work out – files got corrupted and she had problems transferring stuff over.
A post by Amber about her “muse”, Genie Francis, generated a nice discussion on the motherly qualities that come out in Genie’s portrayal of Laura, especially in relation to each of her on-screen children. Posters felt that the qualities we see on Genie on screen are the real life mothering qualities she posses. There was some reminiscing on the days of Luke and Laura and many felt they would love to see some more scenes between Amber and Genie.

Another favourites
post showed Chocolate the overwhelming favourite over Vanilla. Fans were divided on whether they preferred
Chad’s hair long or short. Most loved
FanFics and saw Amber as super-talented and mega-talented and more! Football or hockey? Some said football, some hockey, and others
said neither or chose a different sport all together. Lots of Star Wars were revealed, as well. Fans were also admitted whether they were
night people or day people and whether they liked to sleep in or get up
early. East Coast or West Coast? Beach
or Mountains? Drive or Fly? Fans were divided on the answers to these
three questions.
The lack of Zem
airtime in February was certainly noticed by disappointed fans, who watched
their favourite couple go from front-burner storylines to barely one a week.
After several days of bantering around the lack of Zem and what had happened,
Amber finally posted and laid worried to rest, though she was a wee bit
distracted to begin with “You guys are
addicted..... it's funny......... kind of like me and david bowie .... mmmm ...
spandex ......... uh, sorry where was I? anyway, give it some time-- new EP and
new head writer .......... the seas will be a little rough for a while.”
A favourite
actor/actress pole had Amber topping out as favourite actress – no surprise
there. Her co-star and fan favourite
Chad Brannon was favourite actor – another choice that was of little surprise,
considering the talent of these two young people. Both Sarah Brown and Maurice Bernard were favourites, as was
Nancy Lee Grahn. Coltin Scott and Becky
Herbst also faired well, as did several who are no longer on GH – namely Steve
Burton and the much loved Jonathan Jackson.
Actors and actresses from other soaps were also mentioned, though the
clear favourites were Amber, Chad, Sarah, Maurice and Nancy.

A 6.8 earthquake in
Seattle on February 28th rattled many west coasters on both sides of
the border. No serious injuries
reported no the board, some posters suffered minor damage or had to pick up
things that had fallen off walls or shelves.
The post spun off from the earthquake news – after ensuring everyone was
safe and accounted for – into a discussion of the beauty of British Columbia
and Washington.
On the very sensitive issue of abortion, posters remained very respectful and open to what each other had to say. While many posters were pro-choice, people also felt that more than just pro-choice had to be considered. Education was felt to be an important aspect of the pro-choice issue. Posters pointed out numerous cases of young teenagers becoming pregnant, and how much a pregnancy can change the life of someone who is not ready to be a parent. Woman’s rights came up, as well as religious issues. In response to the discussion, Mercy posted: “I am Pro Choice. I did not have an abortion when I should have and now wish I had. It was my choice and I let someone else make it for me. Bad move. Fear of condemnation by family and friends is a common reason for continuing a pregnancy. Bad move. "On the other hand, if you are a "loose woman" that sleeps around without using protection, then you deserve to suffer the consequences of your actions -- in other words, abortion should not be your chosen form of contraception!" I do not think other people and/or a child should have to pay the consequences of a "loose" woman's mistakes.” Lauree stated the importance of looking at the child’s best interests when she began her post by saying she was pro-child. She went on to discuss the responsibilities people face when they bring a child into the world. She said whether we are pro-life or pro-choice, we all faced a responsibility for the children who are born into this world. She mentioned adoption as a choice for those who chose to carry a child to term if the child is not wanted by the birth mother. She also shared her own struggles in trying to have children and how she and her husband were considering adoption. Amber T. wrote that this question was a difficult as the death penalty. She wrote about the struggles unwanted babies face when they are brought into this world, and how tough life can be if they grow up unwanted. “Ask yourself- in a world like today's, if you were absolutely sure you could not take care of a child, that you would surely ruin it's life or it would hate itself if it was given away-- would you have that child anyway???? Would you ruin a life just to save it??”
On February 20th, 2001 Chad is Rad began a post
about when Amber first wowed her fans.
“ When was the first time you looked at Amber as Emily and said "Wow,
that girl's awesome." For some, it
was the recent storyline with Emily being shipped off to boarding school to
keep her away from Zander. For
many, though, the moment Amber “wowed” them was with the scenes during Emily’s
drug storyline and Dorman’s murder. “It
was after the drug stuff and Ned accused her of using again. She in one second
went from utter panic to catatonia, looking off and not speaking, it was
amazing acting on Amber's part” wrote Chad is Rad. Hugs nKisses felt that the Emily’s search for her aunt showed
great stuff. “Amber was so young and
very talented, I mean how many other soaps do you see 11/12 year old characters
getting so much screen time and good storylines.”
Another popular
storyline when viewers were “wowed” by Amber’s talent was when they watched Emily
dealing with Paige’s cancer and her eventual death. Emily Q fan wrote: “When paige died and Emily was lying on the
bed with her I LOST it.” Pat
(Gigglets), too, got hooked during the storyline with Paige. “LOVED Amber's acting when Paige Died.... and the weeks right before when Paige was so
sick and Emily was dealing with her mom being sick as well as the reality that
she MAY die...which for someone Emily's age has got to be such a difficult
place to be in.” Kelita thought the way
Amber underplayed the scenes surrounding Paige’s illness and death made them
even more powerful.
Amber’s Mom shared a
wonderful story about Emily and Paige.
Mrs. T. recounted her own Mom’s struggle with breast cancer, and how her
Mom lost her battle with the disease on June 7th, 1980. 3 months later, Mrs. T met Russ Tamblyn and
Amber Rose was born 3 years after that.
Mrs. T. writes this of Amber: “To see Amber work in these scenes was
incredible, even surreal at times. It was hard for me to watch those scenes.
Amber asked me what it was like to have my Mom slip away and we would talk
about it; Amber used this story to fuel her inspiration.” Mrs. T. ends her post by pointed out how the
strands of our lives often come together in ways that confirm a human a
spiritual connection. “So it was with
this particular storyline on GH. The day of Paige's passing aired on the
anniversary of my Mother's passage, June 7th. She was honored by Amber's and
Riley's powerful performances. Tears and affirmations offered a message of a
greater story, one that we call a divine plan. We are all connected, we just
have to look for the signs.”
Message Central Archive 27
One of the first posts in Message Central 27 was from Deenska, who commented on how fast we are going through Message Centrals these days, “a testament to how ‘dedicated’ we are to AmTam and GH!”
On March 9th, Jewlsie started a thread asking, “How do your friends feel about you loving GH?” She started the thread by saying that none of her friends really watch GH, but it doesn’t stop her from talking about it! The responses were all different ranging from Deenska, “All my friends think I’m the biggest dork for liking a soap opera….*sigh*”, to vlk826 who says that she is the GH expert to her friends! “My friends who don’t watch GH all the time anymore will catch an episode once in a while and have questions about what is going on and of course they will call me for the scoop!” Despite the differing replies, there was a common thread throughout….whether we have the total support from our friends or none whatsoever for our GH “habit”, we all enjoy coming to AmTam to chat with our online friends about Amber and GH!
On March 11, DivaMel started a post which was self described as “opinionated” in which she voiced her thoughts on the internet frenzy surrounding Sarah Brown’s departure from GH. She says, “Maybe if we just sat back and watched our shows and watched our characters and took an interest in that everything would be fine. Instead everyone is trying to put blame on producers, writers, everyone that runs daytime. None of us really knows what goes on.” All the replies to this post were in agreement with DivaMel, and KissyMC added her thoughts. “Criticizing a character is one thing, they aren’t real and nobody gets hurt by it. But we have no right to say anything about the actor or actress who plays them, or the producers.”
On the same day, Amber started her own thread relative to comments on the board titled “LAST time”, trying to explain to her fans about how and why posts need to be pulled. “I appreciate everybody trying to stick up for the rules on this board-but obviously no matter what you say someone is going to misinterpret what you say. It’s not that Mercy and I are trying to censor our users, but recently there have been some posts of people trying to bring their bullsh** onto this board-their sneaky, shady, high school internet drama onto a board that has a little more class than that…and I WILL NOT have it.” There were fourteen replies to Amber’s post, all in overwhelming support of her post. Daytimeteen55 posted one of the many replies. “Moderation is needed in everyday life. Just because one or two people are coming onto this board and complaining because their posts were deleted doesn’t mean the board management should change their approach.”
Skyedncr15 started a post about Amber’s poetry, and how much she enjoyed it, “You’re really talented!”. Gigglets also replied, “I am blown away by Amber’s poetry and love to read it often. Such insight and depth…”
On March 13th, JoAnna Dawn started a lighthearted thread about certain categories she wanted everyone to vote on. Examples were “Best Diva”, “Best Eyes/Glare”, and “Best Smile”. There were 14 replies and the vast majority voted Emily as “The One Most Likely to be your Best Friend” . Go Emily!!
Big Momma started a post on March 13th titled “Appreciation” She said, “Anyway, your kind thoughts in the thread from the other day made us feel secure on the AMTAM site again. It’s a rocky road out there. Now with the Emmy’s looming, we have high hopes, but we also know how showbiz goes. If Amber does not get a nomination, she will not take it personally. Actually, she has bigger fish to fry! So, everyone, thank you so much, we’ll keep our fingers crossed, yes and even PRAY!!!”
On March 14th, KissyMC started a thread with the list of Emmy nominations, but when she posted the list was incomplete. Dan posted later in the day and confirmed that Amber had not been nominated in the Outstanding Younger Actress category. In fact no actors/actresses from GH were nominated at all. Many of the posters who responded to this thread expressed their total disbelief in these nominations. Grissel replied, “I am just so PO’d! Here we have some of the BEST actors in daytime on GH and not ONE of them is nominated for an Emmy this year…I just find it INCREDIBLE that not one single GH actor was nominated!”
Jewlsie asked a question to Amber on March 16th about how she would feel about a school violence storyline. She wasn’t sure how she felt about it, but was wondering what other posters felt. Most of the posters said that it would make them uncomfortable, considering the chance of “copycat” crimes that could result.
Grissel dubbed March 16th as Mercy and Val Appreciation day!! “Well, in talking to Dana (Zander4ever) she and I decided that today needed to be MERCY & VAL APPRECIATION DAY! So for all you two do, keeping us in line, keeping the forums from getting too full, and your many nights of TROLL PATROL, we want to say THANK YOU! You have worked tirelessly to keep the message board from becoming a place where bashing is tolerated. You have made this a place where we can all feel comfortable and free to speak our minds and you have done it all with grace and class! You two are doing a great job of keeping things running smoothly around here and we just want you to know that we appreciate your efforts! YOU ROCK! (and you can quote me on that!)”
On March 16th, Mercy posted a cryptic message saying only “Amber has left the building.” There were many puzzled responses (40 in all!), but Deenska noted that “Amber’s somewhat controversial post about her feeling on the Emmy’s is now gone. Anyone else notice that?” Big Momma (Bonnie Tamblyn) posted three times within this thread. “Amber has been under fire for several days now, from various critics, various threads. (not from you guys, but you know who.) A time of reflection is in order, taking stock, looking at options. Not to worry…” Many supportive fans replied to this comment, voicing support for Amber on all fronts. The thread continued into March 17th and Big Momma posted for the third time. “There is much more than meets the eye about Amber’s post…circumstances which we cannot share at this time. Amber was upset about a much bigger picture. Forgive me if this all sounds cryptic, but I can only speak for Amber as her mother and can’t give too much detail. Please give Amber some time to collect herself.” There were again many replies wishing Amber well, and Zander4ever noted, “We’ll be here when she’s ready to come back.”
On March 18th, Deenska announced a new Message Central (#28). “ woo hoo…we go through these things like water!”
Message Forum 28 was officially kicked off on March 17, 2001 with Deenska imitating the movie phone guy’s voice, “Welcome to Message Forum 28. Now playing at AMTAM.com, all the GH chatter, and miscellaneous posting you could want.” Leave it to the fans to come up with original ways to keep the message boards as entertaining and hilarious as possible. With that announcement “released”, the fans now have a brand new forum to discuss and chat, and not to mention, uncover what Message Forum 28 had in store for them (us) all.
On March 17, 2001, ikohl informed fellow AmTam’ers the great but not surprising news that Amber has been voted the fifth most popular actress on ABC Soaps in Depth Reader’s Poll, while Emily Quartermaine and Zander Smith were voted as fourth most popular couple of all ABC Soaps. This only seem to prove the things that all AMTAM’ers have long known: that the general public is finally beginning to realize Amber’s bountiful talents as an actress and that the Zander Smith/Emily Quartermaine pairing is still popular amongst the fans.
However, on March 18, 2001, Valerie, one of the administrators of AmTam, informed fellow AmTam’ers about cyber-lynching incident that in turn personally affected Amber. Valerie told fellow registered users that “Amber is a sweet, honest, passionate young person who is open about pretty much everything in her life—her thoughts, her feelings, her concerns—doesn’t matter what the subject, she usually has an opinion.” Valerie’s post emphasized that though we might not share the same views as Amber on certain subjects, it does not, however, issue anyone the personal right to attack Amber or anyone else personally. Valerie’s post ended eloquently with a question for us to ponder, “Have you ever done something that you simply regretted? A certain someone once said ‘he that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.’” Definitely a nice reminder for us posters to put people’s feelings first before posting an opinion about a topic.
Inspired by what April4442 of Ellen’s Corner Presents…did for Amber during a trying period, Deenska started a “Why We Love Amber and her Emily” trend on March 18, 2001 to find out why fans love Amber and her portrayal of Emily. Regular and lurkers alike came together, admitting their love and admiration for the young and talented Amber. Regular poster Zander4ever beautifully states, “I love Amber because she has shown herself to be a remarkable, mature young lady. She takes the time to be with her fans, too, who is willing to stand up for what she believes in…As for Emily? I love her because of all that she has to overcome and how she is able to smile and laugh.” Voicing similar sentiments, occasional poster SunnieNC78 added, “Amber is a wonderful, talented, charismatic young woman with a bright future ahead of her who takes time for her fans…I think it makes the fans feel special to which is great…Let’s see why I love Emily. Emily has a good heart; at times, she may seem spoiled but overall she’s not…I also see a lot of compassion in her.” One could definitely see that though expressed in different stylistic manners, the general consensus of this trend simply states that Amber is indeed a wonderful young woman whose golden heart has touched fans and whose talent will definitely bring her far into her career.
(On March 22, 2001, rumors that have been floating about finally swung into full effect on whether or not Amber will be leaving General Hospital at the end of her contract. On the thread “Amber, Say it isn’t so…” poster Matt Dawgs started by stating that if should what SOW have printed out turned out to be true he will “officially bail on GH.” Once the news broke out, the majority of the posters were despondent to the news, even though it was just a rumor at that time. However, monitor Tidnee, whose posts were ever so upbeat did not fail to be the voice of reason. She simply states, “Don’t believe everything you read until we hear it out of Amber/Bonnie/Mercy/Val’s mouth!” Added Valerie later that evening, “Follow Tiff’s advice, you won’t go wrong—anything that goes on with Amber and her career you will see confirmed here.” While the impending rumor of Amber’s departure from General Hospital still loomed about the posters’ mind, the message forum continued to be the safe haven for all Amber’s fans.)
On March 29, 2001, the much-needed reassurances came from the only person who could do it: Amber. Under her posting id amberfreakaholic, Amber told fellows AmTam’ers “nothing confirmed as of right now, there has been nothing set in stone. There has been no final decision yet. I still love and miss all of you!! I’ve just been majorly busy…Hopefully I’ll get a chance to post some more soon!!!” Amber’s post definitely added a ray of hope to fellow AmTam’ers, each and every one of them thanking Amber for posting and hoping that life would slow down for Amber. As Kelita13 simply posted, “We all support you in whatever happens with all this. You’ve got some devoted fans around here. We know that whatever you decide will be for the best.”
Message Forum 28 ended with the trend “Who are these Registered Users?” started by Deserie. The purpose of the trend was to help the shy ones, better known as lurkers, to take the initiative and post on Amber’s Message boards. The trend proved effective as lurkers such as getaclue01 came out and posted, “I’m another lurker…Just wanted to say hi to everyone. Hope to post here more often.”
After receiving over a thousand posts, Message Forum came to an end on April 9, 2001, leading to Message Forum 29…proving that Amber’s fans are nothing short of energetic and upbeat.
April 2, 2001 marked the day a new
Message Central was born on www.amtam.com.
It was broken in by Tidnee and Destinyin2k, and that kicked off a very active couple of weeks for the
online AmTammers! The board was abuzz with all things General Hospital, both on
and off screen as the posters discussed
everything from Amber’s scenes as Emily with Elizabeth to Steve Burton’s
TV movie, “Semper Fi.” The posters bemoaned the shaving of Steve’s head in the
military drama, and praised his acting. One poster, GHallie gave this message
to Amber, that pretty much summed up the fans views: “Amber, when you see Steve
give him a big pat on the back for me cause that was some awesome acting!” There was also a lot of discussion
concerning the Liz/Lucky/Jason triangle, where it seemed everybody had an
opinion! Even Amber’s mom, Big Momma had a few words to say: “Runaway Liz,
trouble is afoot!!!!”
Another
big event at the beginning of the month was General Hospital’s 38th
Anniversary! The posters gathered under one thread and tried to project what
the show might be like in another 38 years….L’il Lulu running Deception? Luke
and Helena still battling, but in motorized wheelchairs? Sonny retiring from
the mob and running a chain of coffee shops called SonnyBucks? Hey, we can
dream! That same day, the posters wished long time member Deserie a Happy 18th
Birthday!
April
5, 2001 was a very busy night on the boards, as Amber seemed to be in a hyper
mood and eager to give away some up-coming ZEm secrets! There was a new message
from the ‘amberfreakaholic’ that night, with a not-so simple subject line, “guacamoleeeeee
in my choes,....
“ When no one knew that the kung fu goddess of daytime was getting
at, she was ‘forced’ to elaborate… “i said, guacamoleeeee in my
choes.....name
that movie quote and I'll give you a Zem scene hint :0 hehehehe... i love
this....” The posters scrambled to come up with something, anything that
would give them a clue as to what the future held for their beloved ZEm, and
finally resorted to begging for more clues. The ever-generous Miss Amber
finally relented and revealed it was from the same era as “The Eagles.” Denise
(dnicejeter) finally figured out and guessed “Cheech and Chong Up In Smoke” and
Amber had to admit we had a winner! “damn, i didn't think you'd get it... now i
have to tell you......okay. it involves violence, tears and a barn.......” And
that was the big pay-off from a night of guessing. Although the exhausted
posters wouldn’t have a clue what she was talking about for quite awhile, they
had enough to satisfy them…for now.
At
about the same time, everyone was speculating on the recast of GH’s Carly, and
sadly awaiting the exit of Sarah Brown. Amber was kind enough to pop in one day
and fill everyone in on Sarah’s last day that the studio, saying, “Of course she cried.... hard.... vanessa
marcil style. she cried all day practically, but we all know that comes easily
for S .....but you'll see her again soon enough.....trust me......” She also commented on the new actress that
would be portraying Carly, Tamara Braun. “.... met tamara today, she's a real
nice girl. Real loud and spunky like sarah was, but i think she looks a little
younger.” Of course, she couldn’t resist tormenting her loyal fans a little and
just had to add, “..... missing zem lately?? Ohhhhh wait till you see the
scenes we shot yesterday..... oh if ONLY you knew!”
There
were several long threads during the next few days, ranging from “Who are our
favorite GH characters not including EM” posted by Tidnee, and then another
long thread regarding Amber’s fan mail, where Bonnie Tamblyn reassured everyone
that “Amber delivers!” On April 10, 2001, Amber resurfaced again, this time
with Ani DiFranco lyrics, and the message that she would be “outside tower
records at 5 am waiting....don't think I'm kidding either....” when her new CD
came out. She was back a few days later with a review for her fans, “ANI CD...
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
April 11,
2001 was the beginning of another long thread where the posters discussed their
favorite primetime TV pleasures, which was kicked off by Sheri330, followed by
another discussion regarding the copious consumption of alcohol on GH! An
excellent point was made by Deenska who said, “Did you ever notice that there is apparently no legal
drinking age in PC? All the teens hit the booze whenever they go to any kind of
social event!”
On
April 12, 2001 the ZEmmers were frantic when they could have sworn they heard
Emily call Zander ‘baby,’ and there was a mad rush to see if they were in fact
correct. Amber confirmed their suspicions, by saying, “yes, i did say baby, and
I'll say it again... let's see who can catch the next one.....” The challenge
was accepted! The “baby” was heard again the next day, and the fans were
thrilled.
Message
Central 29 was finished up with a flurry of posting as everyone continued to
get to know each other on the Amber Tamblyn Message Forum. Questions such as,
“What are you going to name your kids,” “Music: What are you listening to?” and
a particularly fun thread entitled “Celebrity Crushes!” No one can ever say that the Amber Tamblyn posters have
nothing to say!
Message Central 31
Amber Tamblyn's Message Board number 31 began on May 7th and ran until May 28th. Message board 31 had many big events happen throughout it. A lead up to Amber's 18th birthday, and then of course her birthday, news about Amber's newest show, and Amber's first post after breaking the sad news that she would be leaving the character of Emily on General Hospital.Bonnie (Big Momma), Amber's mother made special lead up birthday posts, she made three of them, all memories of Amber's past birthday's. How Amber was born the day before Bonnie's birthday, thus being the best gift she had ever received. We heard stories of Amber’s first steps, and many other birthday memories. We all celebrated Amber's 18th birthday with her, sending out messages of love and best wishes to her.
On May 17th we heard from the board moderators that Amber would be having her annual Breakfast at the General Hospital weekend. Tickets were on sale, and of course, many of the posters went out to grab the last few tickets to the event.
One of the biggest highlights of this forum was that we held the very first Message Board Awards! The awards were lead by our very own poster Deenska. The awards were posted simultaneously at Amber and Chad's boards. "When the Daytime Emmy Nominations were announced back in March, there was outrage on many of the GH boards about the lack of GH actor nods. So, I, being a complete lunatic and completely devoted to all of you fellow fans, began organizing our own awards show through Chad's and Amber's Boards -- the Board Awards!" –Deena There were 19 awards presented, including Best Drama, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, etc. Amber won Best Supporting Actress, Best Younger Actress, and Hottest Female, as well as many other awards based on storyline, and best moments.
Then on May 21st other great news came in, Amber's co-star Chad Brannon confirmed in a live chat that he had in fact signed a contract with General Hospital. This was great news to all fans.
And of course, Amber still posted throughout this whole time, sending us her love, and making us laugh.
Message Central 32
On May 23, Pat (gigglets) let us
know that Sarah Brown would not be doing the movie “Shock Treatment” as
originally thought.
Amber introduced us to Jenny, her
life-long friend and new assistant, “her brain” as Bonnie tells us Amber calls her.
As we neared Memorial Day, or
“Zemorial Day” as those on the board called it, there were many posts regarding
what would happen on the big day for Zem.
On May 24th, the
topic of the day was Em getting ready for the prom with Liz and Gia. Oh the memories of all of our proms!!
The ongoing question that still
remains, why isn’t Chad in the opening credits?? Only time will tell.

let everyone know about another award AMTAM had won from her site. She said, “This has to be one of the most
friendly sites around. So not only do
you deserve a hot site award, you deserve a best site award too.” Congratulations AMTAM!!! We already know it’s the best. J
Donna (DonnaTheGreat) was nice
enough to put together a slideshow of the reel they had for GH Outstanding
Drama nomination for the emmy’s, for those who missed or boycotted the event.
On May 27, Summersoul posted a
very nice message about how ZEM was phenomenal, something that only few couples
have achieved, and putting them in the same category as Luke and Laura.

The movie Pearl Harbor, and Tiff
started a post raving about it, and others agreed, it’s a great movie!
May 28, Emily (Q22) informed
that she had read in Soap Opera Digest that the role of “Michael” is being
recast.

She talked about how great AMTAM is, and of course everyone agreed!
As graduations approached, the
board was filled with everyone’s high school memories.
Amber came on to thank everyone
for all of the birthday presents she had received, especially the 2 bouquets of
flowers received from Tiff, one which was dead in her dressing room by the time
she got to them!!
On May 30, Marcia was nice
enough to share a site she found so we could go and listen to some of Coltin
Scott’s music.
Deena (Deenska) continued her
mysterious project, asking help on all kinds of soap questions.
On June 1, Mercy told us that
AMTAM had paid to get rid of Ezboard’s pop up ads on the site. Yay Mercy!!!

idea that we have a separate board for slideshows, something that Mercy quickly

On AMC, Hayley had 3 NHL players
as guest on “the wave”. On of the
players was Rob Niedermayer, who is Donna’s (DonnaTheGreat) cousin’s brother!!
There was a rumor about a Jason
recast, which to this day we still do not know if it is going to happen or not.
June 4, we all shared our
thoughts on the Anna/Robin reunion on AMC, which aired that day.
On June 6, the board got a new

On June 13, 2001, Amber announced that her last tape date was Friday, June 22. Then, Amber’s mom, Bonnie clarified that Amber’s last tape date was actually on Wednesday, June 20. She also announced: “Amber just completed her second poetry book..."Plenty of Ships." She will premiere it at the GH Breakfast.”
On June 18, 2001, everyone was afraid that the role of Emily would be recast. Amber reassured everyone by saying that JFP promised there would be no recast, which made everyone happy.
On June 20, 2001, it was Amber’s last tape date. Everyone gathered together to write sweet posts, wishing her good luck in the future.
On June 21, 2001, everyone was talking about the tearjerking scene when Alan sang a song to Emily in the hospital. Dana made everyone realized how everybody was quick to blame Zander for what happens to Emily, and also that Zander blames anyone but himself. A sad GH episode made Emily fans cry or almost when she couldn’t feel Monica tickleling her foot. But who can forget the Nurses’ ball’s performances: Edward and his boys, Nikolas, Lucky and Gia, Luke and Felicia, Dara. Also, Melanie encouraged everyone to vote for Amber for The Dot Net Group Star Challenge. In a matter of hours, her votes were from 281 up to 411.

Questions for Amber 1
On November 15, 2000, Tidnee suggested that there be a new board for questions for Amber, thus the beginning of Questions for Amber. This forum soon became a place where Amber's fans talked with her about anything and everything. From politics, to co-stars, to hair color, to websites....Questions for Amber had a little of everything. Amber came to the new board on November 16 and said "I didn't know me posting everyday would lead to a section entitled "Q's for Amber"...." Fans often stopped by to just tell Amber how great she is, to thank her for taking time out of her busy schedule to come post, or to congratulate her on an award. On November 18, Amber introduced her mom to the board. Mrs. Tamblyn (Big Momma) greeted everyone, and she later went on to continue to post with her daughter's fans on a regular basis. She often answered questions about her daughter, like telling everyone that Amber was a "chip off the old block" when it came to dancing.
Amber's fans have gotten to know her through this board. She often let her fans know that she pays attention to what they do by checking out websites and reading fanfiction. Once both Amber and Mrs. T shared memories of Emily's first kiss: "Emily was supposed to give Nicholas a tentative, shy little kiss. But Amber rared back and planted a juicy lip-lock on Tyler," Mrs. Tamblyn recalled. Amber remembered how a bunch of the female staff were gathered around and were like "a bunch of giggling school girls." It was also on this board that fans shared their favorite storylines. Lora (EmilyQFan) said her favorite was the whole Dorman story, and many other fans shared one of Amber's favorite: Emily's mother dying of cancer. And when Deserie asked Amber who she would like to meet (dead or alive), Amber replied "Ghandi. By far." Through Questions for Amber, the fans have gotten to know Amber and Amber has gotten to know the fans.
Questions for Amber 2
Questions for Amber 2 was created when the first forum filled up. This new forum helped fans get to know Amber even better through both Amber and her mom, Bonnie. Subjects ranged from General Hospital and Emily's rings to music groups and poetry. A few people, like Melanie (amtamghamtam) and Emily (Quartermaine22), wrote poems about Amber, Emily, or Emily and Zander. Amber and her fans often talked about her chemistry with leading man Chad Brannon.
Amber has answered a lot of questions in this forum, and she is always honest. When asked if there was ever a storyline she would refuse, Amber said yes, she refused the rave story because shows can make raves "look horrible," and she fought but "eventually lost." Once, when asked by JoAnna Dawn, Amber told us that besides the teens, she was closest to Nancy Lee Grahn and Sarah Brown. Mrs. Tamblyn also answered questions, like responding to why Emily would love Zander: "I think that true love is a mystery... what we see... between Emily and Zander is magic." Fans continue to communicate with Amber in Questions for Amber 2.
Slideshows
Slideshows have always been a way for fans to express their creativity, and Amber's board is no exception. Since the board's inception; slideshows were among many a post.
With Emily's pairing with Zander, though, this creative outlet expanded into much more. As of June 5th, 2001 a forum was created on Amber's message forum to house all the slideshows in one place.
One is able to view Emily and Zander through the eyes of the slideshow creator, as they interpret the complex relationship through the music and/or lyrics of song. Many times it is a slice of time that is forever captured through these creations; as each stage of the relationship is showcased. In some instances, mini-movies were created to portray the relationship from start to the present; with all of the ups and downs that ZEm have been through.
When Amber announced that she was leaving the show, there were a flood of retrospectives of her portrayal of Emily on GH. Those continue to be made, as her last airdate grows near.
Amber's mother, Bonnie is known to be a fan of slideshows. She often replies to slideshows with commentary and insights.
As Slideshows are to be created, we will continue to laugh,
cry, ....be happy or sad over Amber's time at General Hospital. And now,
despite problems with slideshow hosting, these images, matched with songs, will
be forever in our minds.
